Source routing (specified in RFC 791 I believe) is where you specify the route that packets take though the network. Hello Kapil. It is true that the 172.16.0.0 subnet is a class B address, and thus in clasful IP addressing it would have a prefix of /16 rather than /24.

I want to Add the route to Ethernet interface in my cisco 2509 router which has IOS 11.0. But it doesn’t help “ip route” command. in the help there is “ip source-route” command. is these commands are same or are there any other way to add routes. Thanks. Source Route - YouTube
